Final Semester Jitters

Hello ladies!
Welcome to your final semester of English classes at Seokyeong University. For this last semester, we are going to take a different approach to studying English. Instead of all the communication, writing and grammar courses you have been taking, we are going to spend a semester dealing with the fun side(in my opinion) of studying English. This semester we will do a short survey of literature and film with two classic authors, Jane Austen and William Shakespeare. We will spend the first half of the semester in regency England with Austen's "Sense and Sensibility". Along with reading the novel, you will get to watch the film version as well as the three-part series derived from the novel. In the second half of the term, you will be reading a modernized version of Shakespeare's most famous romantic tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet." Again we will accompany the book with one or two cinematic versions of the play.

As part of your weekly assignments, you will be required to post on your blog. I will lead with a discussion question from the reading or film, and you should respond with a respectable attempt to answer the question. There will be ten blog posts overall, so this portion of your grade isn't too demanding. We will begin the posts in week 2 and you are expected to keep up to date on all the posts.

I am very much looking forward to teaching you this coming semester and even more thrilled to have the chance to create a different kind of class for you. Good luck!!!
